This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Domestic Defense Industrial Base (DIB) & Major Range and Test Facilities Base (MRTFB) in DoD to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
Duties
Assists in the preparation of plans, specifications and estimates for a wide variety of tasks associated with electronic systems.
Conducts a variety of tests, i.e. interference, sensitivity, reliability, performance, operational and electromagnetic on various electronic systems.
Operates and/or maintains laboratory and/or field equipment for a variety of testing operations involving electronics.
Reviews plans with engineers to learn purpose of operations, operating procedures, and safety and environmental procedures.
Serves as team representative on a variety of tasks associated with evaluating the performance of electronic systems undergoing tests.
Modifies and adapts engineering documentation for electronics materiel.

- This position requires a Secret security clearance a background investigation and credit check are required.

- One year trial period may be required.
- Temporary Duty (TDY) travel is 25 percent.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes assisting in the design, operation, performance, testing and evaluating of electronic systems; Working from diagrams, sketches, models, test plans written and/or verbal instruction for set up of tests and experiments and project coordination and leadership to include maintaining reports and updates on projects. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-10).

Education: Successful completion of (a) all the requirements for a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, electronics engineering, or electronics technology, OR (b) 3 years of study in an accredited (by the Accreditation Board of Engineering and Technology, Inc. (ABET)) curriculum in electronics, OR (c) a full 4-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree that included major study or at least 24 semester hours in any combination of courses, such as, engineering, physical science, technology, or mathematics. At least 12 of the 24 semester hours must have been in electronics courses.

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages.

FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
