As a Supervisory Equipment Specialist you will be responsible for strategic planning, directing and coordinating smart building, building automation system, advanced metering and use of metering for diagnostic and measurement and verification of new technology work within the Region. Location of position: Public Buildings Service,Facilities Management Division in Austin, TX, Dallas, TX or Fort Worth, TX.
We are currently filling one vacancy, but additional vacancies may be filled as needed.
Duties
Manage and supervise an organizational unit responsible for the smart buildings operation activities for the Region.
Assist in the development of short term and long range plans for the accomplishment of program goals and objectives involving constantly changing policies and procedures, evolving technology capability, and limited resources.
Oversee the implementation of new building technologies; including Building Automation Systems (BAS) used in the construction, modernization, and reprogramming of existing systems throughout the region.
Prepare case studies on existing BAS and building systems for future use through the systematic collection and aggregation of buidling system information.
Provide critical analysis of pressing issues and required policy recommendations.
Provide expert advice and recommendations to design and construction engineering teams related to reviews of new constructions plans, project specifications, system life-style assessments of existing and proposed systems, confirm training for new system initiatives, and may serve as a contracting officer's representative for BAS and other system installations. Maintain program integrity through continous monitoring and may inspect sites as needed. Collaborate wth collegues to best align program objectives with nationally administered programs. Monitor monthly region-wide and individual building energy usage to ensure reductions goals are met.

Requirements
- US Citizenship or National (Residents of American Samoa and Swains Island)
- Meet all eligibility criteria within 30 days of the closing date
- Meet time-in-grade within 30 days of the closing date, if applicable

The GS-13 salary range starts at $106,215 per year and varies by location. If you are a new federal employee, your starting salary will likely be set at the Step 1 of the grade for which you are selected. To qualify, you must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level or higher in the Federal service. Specialized experience is experience providing direct support of Building Automation Systems (BAS) in facility operations. Experience includes:
Development, installation, application, analysis, technical support and use of building analytic programs, Building Automation Systems (BAS) and advanced metering systems.
Utilizing Building Automation Systems (BAS) in the administration of building systems (HVAC, lighting, advanced metering, etc.).
Implementing smart buildings operation and strategy processes.
Developing, adapting, and implementing procedures and guidance to end users.
Overseeing delivery for Building Automation Systems (BAS) equipment and services.
Translating building analytic programs, Building Automation Systems (BAS) and advanced meter system data and protocols into project specific strategies and implementation including design, installation, commissioning, training and ongoing use to maximize benefits.
