Duties
You will serve as a SUPERVISORY PHYSICIAN ASSISTANT in the CLINICAL SUPPORT OFFICE (N02H1A) of the MILITARY SEALIFT COMMAND (MSC) located in NORFOLK, VA.
You will develop performance plans, complete performance appraisals, approve leave, and plan and assign work to be accomplished by subordinate clinical personnel based on the difficulty of assignments and capability of the employees.
You will evaluate the medical and physical fitness for duty of new Civilian Mariner (CIVMAR) applicants and current CIVMARs for employment and assignment to MSC ships.
You will evaluate all applications for Clinical Support Office staff positions, oversee the selection process and make final recommendations to the Force Medical Officer.
You will maintain a professional training program and ensure that appropriate training records are maintained.

Qualifications
In addition to the Basic Requirements, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience as a certified physician assistant at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector and completion of an accredited physician assistant educational program. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Experience applying an expert experience in maritime medical standards, processes, principles relating to mariners and ship's operations employment.
Experience applying expert experience in providing occupational medicine determinations such as fitness for duty, work-related conditions and risk management.
Experience applying an expert knowledge of worldwide medical resources such as shipboard medical care capabilities and medical evacuation principles and procedure.
Experience providing work assignments, developmental and training needs for subordinated clinical personnel.

LICENSURE
For all grade levels and positions, applicants must possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a Physician Assistant from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
NOTE: Employees currently assigned to positions in this occupational series as of September 2017 will be considered to have met the basic requirements for the position occupied.
