You will serve as a Ordnance Equipment Mechanic Leader in the Chief of Naval Operations of NMC CWD DET SEAL BEACH.

Duties

You will direct performance of complex and intricate operations in the Surface Launched Missiles (SLM) field. You will check work progress and ensure supervisors instructions, work procedures and deadlines are met. You will perform Production Self Checks (PSC), Quality Inspector (QI) and Quality Assurance (QA) checks. You will assemble components into complete all-up-around (AUR) surface missiles, utilize special test equipment tools and handling equipment. You will inspect missiles build up operations and record test data, service life data and perform calculations to determine the service life. You will coordinate the identification, isolation of malfunctioning components and make proper adjustments for repair. You will be responsible for designating work performed and make sure it's being done properly, safely and highest degree of quality. You will coordinate production work to keep personnel efficiently working.

  • This is a bargaining unit position.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current Explosives certification.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current Forklift License.
  • You will be required to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
