Duties

You will perform structural firefighting duties for a variety of facilities. You will participate in pre-fire planning by identifying new or existing hazards. You will operate a variety of firefighting equipment. You will perform hazard and risk assessment techniques in completing initial incident analysis. You will initiate established medical protocols in providing basic life support. You must have the ability to lift and move heavy objects. You will work 144 hours biweekly schedule.

Requirements

  • This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required

Qualifications

GS-07: Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-06 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Performing structural firefighting duties for a variety of facilities, which may include large multi-storied buildings, industrial areas, and/or base storage facilities; 2) Operating firefighting equipment (e.g., hoses, ladders, hydrants) to fight structural fires; 3) Maintaining firefighting equipment and fire station facilities; 4) Using hazard and risk assessment techniques to complete an initial hazardous materials incident analysis; 5) Driving a firefighting vehicle (e.g., pumper, aerial ladder truck, rescue truck, brush truck, quick-attack vehicle, airport rescue fire fighting vehicle); and 6) Performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) or automatic external defibrillation (AED) during respiratory and cardiac emergencies. Required Certifications: Firefighter I and II, National Registry Emergency Medical Technician (NREMT) and CPR, HAZMAT - Awareness and Operations, Apparatus Driver/Operator - Pumper and Aerial. NREMT will be required within one year of being hired. Must obtain all certification requirements of the GS-7 within one year of being hired. GS-06: Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Performing structural firefighting duties for a variety of facilities, which may include large multi-storied buildings, industrial areas, and/or base storage facilities; 2) Operating firefighting equipment (e.g., hoses, ladders, hydrants) to fight structural fires; 3) Maintaining firefighting equipment and fire station facilities; 4) Using hazard and risk assessment techniques to complete an initial hazardous materials incident analysis; 5) Driving a firefighting vehicle (e.g., pumper, aerial ladder truck, rescue truck, brush truck, quick-attack vehicle, airport rescue fire fighting vehicle); and 6) Performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) or automatic external defibrillation (AED) during respiratory and cardiac emergencies. Required Certifications: Firefighter I and II, CPR, HAZMAT - Awareness and Operations, and Apparatus Driver/Operator - Pumper and Aerial Driver Operator will be required within one year of being hired. GS-05 Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-04 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Controlling or extinguishing fires as a member of an organized military, industrial volunteer, governmental fire department brigade; 2) Performing rescue operations; 3) Detecting, reducing, or eliminating potential fire hazards; 4) Operating fire communications equipment; 5) Controlling hazardous materials incidents. OR Have successfully completed a 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university in Fire Training, Fire Science, or another related field of study OR Have a combination of experience and education as described above that equates to one year of experience. Required certifications: Firefighter I and Firefighter II. Hazardous Material Awareness, Hazardous Materials Operations, CPR (Heathcare Provider/ Professional Rescuer) These certifications must have been awarded by DoD, IFSAC or Pro-Board to meet the requirement.
