Duties
Serve as senior technician with a variety of duties in connection with toxic agent monitoring, testing and operation of equipment to produce, handle, and detoxify chemical and biological agents and agent related components.
Perform toxic agent monitoring which includes assembly and maintenance of sampling equipment; setting up permanent monitoring sites; and the operating, and calibrating of automatic detectors.
Perform testing and operation of equipment used in the production, handling and destruction of chemical and biological munitions and related items include transportation, set-up, systemization, calibration, maintenance, operation and demobilization.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position is subject to a pre-employment drug test screening, and random drug testing thereafter.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance for the duration of employment.
- Position requires certification in the Biological Personnel Reliability Program (BPRP) and/or the Chemical Personnel Reliability Program (CPRP), which requires random drug testing and medical evaluation.
- This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 50% of the time.
- This position may be subject to a one year probationary period if not previously served.
- This position has a requirement to lift up to 50 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) Provide technical advice to management on tasks associated with the development of tests or procedures that will ultimately support a chemical operation; 2) Develop innovative methods, approaches, or procedures to support chemical and biological testing, operations and monitoring; 3) Prepare and present briefings, project updates, status reports and correspondence to ensure results and recommendations are understood and accepted. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).
