About the Position: This position is located with the US Army Forces Command, Holistic Health and Fitness Performance Team, Fort Liberty, North Carolina.
Position may be filled as a temporary promotion/reassignment/CLG NTE 13 months by a current permanent Army employee. Temporary promotions/reassignments/CLGs may be extended up to a maximum of five years.

Duties
Work as a member of the Holistic Health and Fitness team, focusing on the Mental Readiness and Sleep Readiness areas.
Provide comprehensive occupational therapy services to maximize Solder performance and improve unit readiness.
Develop programs to optimize performance behaviors or mitigate injury risk.
Perform formal and informal evaluations in the various areas, such as physical, psychological, cognitive, activities of daily living (ADLs), functional and adaptive skills, and, work and occupational role performance.
Plan, coordinate, and implement goal-oriented group and/or behavioral-focused individual treatment programs.
Apply the use of therapeutic modalities and new integrative techniques and technologies.
Participate on an interdisciplinary team to coordinate the rehabilitation or wellness activities for individual Soldiers or groups of Soldiers with the brigade.
Educate on the injury/disease process and its effect on function, joint protection, energy conservation, ergonomic needs, work simplification, and cognitive compensatory techniques.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- A Personnel Security Investigation is required.
- Selectees will be required to sign a statement (Condition of Employment) consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Red Cross. Advanced certification (e.g., ALS) does not supersede BLS.
- Applicants must be able to fulfill credentialing requirements and obtain and maintain appropriate/relevant clinical privileges.
- May be required to work overtime and/or other than normal duty hours for data collection, which may include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays.
- Moderate to heavy lifting up to 50 pounds may be required.
- The work requires moderate risks or discomforts that include work in non-climate controlled conditions outdoors where Army training is conducted.
- The work requires physical exertion that includes lifting of moderately heavy items to include treatment tables, exercise equipment (weights), research data collection equipment, military equipment used by Soldiers (for familiarity).
- The work also requires exertion to perform exercises used in physical performance and rehabilitation.
- The employee must be willing and able to travel on commercial aircraft for temporary duty (TDY) business travel up to 25% of the time.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). Basic Requirements for Occupational Therapist (Holistic Health and Fitness):
(1) Degree: A graduate (or higher level) degree that included an occupational therapy curriculum approved by the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE) or a professional accrediting organization recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained, and completion of the clinical requirements prescribed by the school. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)
(2) Certification: Applicants must have passed the national examination administered by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT). (Note: You must attach a copy of your active certification.)
Exemption: You are exempt from the basic requirements above if you are a current federal employee occupying a position in the 0631 occupational series and have been continuously employed in this occupational series since September 27, 2017 or before. Note: You will be required to provide appropriate documentation to the respective Human Resources Office to validate your status.
In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:
(3) Specialized Experience: At least one full year of professional Occupational Therapy experience (equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service) which includes performing evaluations in adult populations, implementing therapeutic modalities aimed at performance optimization, and coordinating with an interdisciplinary team.
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
