This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security, United States Coast Guard, Surface Forces Logistics Center, Small Boat Product Line, in Baltimore.

Duties

The incumbent of this position provides administrative support to the Surface Forces Logistics Center, Small Patrol Boat Product Line relieving the Product Line Manager (PLM) of routine clerical, correspondence and administrative support work.

Qualifications

GS-6: Candidates at the GS-6 level must have one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-05 level. Specialized experience is experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSAs) to perform successfully the duties of the position as described above, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. Examples of GS-5 level work may include: typing correspondence using word processing software, preparing a variety of manual and automated reports, reviewing correspondence for grammatical accuracy; or arranging travel for staff and preparing travel orders. SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE: As a general rule, education is not creditable above GS-05 for most positions; however, graduate education may be substituted for experience in those few instances where the graduate education is directly related to the work of the position. PROFICIENCY REQUIREMENT: Applicant must be able to type 40 words per minute. National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience): Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.The Office of Personnel management (OPM) must authorize employment offers made to current or former political appointees.  If you are currently, or have been within the last 5 years, a political Schedule A, Schedule, C, Non-career SES or Presidential Appointee employee in the Executive Branch, you must disclose this information to the Human Resources Office.
