This position is located in Department of Homeland Security, United States Coast Guard, Director of Operational Logistics, Base Galveston Naval Engineering Department, Galveston, TX.

Duties

This is a multi-trade position requiring journeyman level skills in heating/ventilation/air conditioning (HVAC) as well as journeyman level skills as an electrician in both building and marine applications.Being a CG civilian makes you a valuable member of the CG team. Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • This position requires a pre-employment physical.
  • This position requires a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI).
  • The position requires a valid state driver's license.
  • Males born after 12/31/1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • Applicant is required to meet the physical requirements of the position.

Qualifications

Applicants will be evaluated on their ability to perform the duties of the position rather than the length of experience. Eligibility will be determined by the relevance, scope, and quality of all experience and training, regardless of where or how acquired. Applicants will be rated and ranked based on their knowledge of the following job elements:  Ability to do the work of the position without more than normal supervision (Screen out Element). Knowledge of equipment assembly, installation, repair, etc. Technical Practices (theoretical, precise, artistic). Ability to interpret instructions, specifications, etc. (includes blueprinting reading). Use of Measuring Instruments. Ability to use and maintain tools and equipment. Knowledge of materials. National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience): Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
