Duties

Operate a variety of diesel or electric powered wheeled motor vehicles to haul cargo in support of the area’s functional responsibilities. Vehicles are driven on individual assignments or set schedules for the purpose of transporting supplies and materials. Incumbent operates forklift trucks which are capable of lifting loads weighing less than 10,000 pounds as high as 168 inches. Perform a variety of miscellaneous duties to include but not limited to moving furniture, loading and unloading trucks, delivering mail to the main office, sweeping floors, and performing other duties in support of area’s functional responsibilities. Operate a vehicle through rural or urban areas over public roads in a variety of traffic conditions to transport supplies and materials. Incumbent is responsible for loading and unloading cargo by hand as needed. Completes necessary paperwork and reports in compliance with established rules and procedures for vehicle maintenance.

  • This national security position, which may require access to classified information, requires a favorable suitability review and security clearance as a condition of employment. Failure to maintain security eligibility may result in termination.

  • Must obtain and maintain appropriate, valid motor vehicle operator's licenses.
  • Lifting objects weighing up to 50 pounds.

Qualifications

Qualifications: Applicants will be rated in accordance with the Office of Personnel Management Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most blue-collar positions, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties at the level for which you are applying. Quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of a Motor Vehicle Operator at the level for which you are applying must be demonstrated through: operating a variety of diesel or electric powered wheeled motor vehicles to haul and transport cargo, ability to properly load, arrange, and secure cargo to promote safe vehicle operation and cargo delivery and must have skill in the control, operation, and maneuverability of a forklift; knowing the capabilities of the vehicle in reference to weight, load distribution, and space constraints. Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
