This position is located within the Community Recreation Center located at Parks Reserve Forces Training Area - Camp Parks, CA. Announcement will have a first cutoff date of August 5, 2024, and applicants that submit an application packet prior that date and found eligible may be given first consideration.

Duties

Serves as the manager for the PRFTA Community Recreation Center. Responsible for the overall management and direction of the Recreation Center, Outdoor Recreation Equipment checkout, RV Storage Yard and Community Special Events. Directs, develops and administers plans and procedures to meet the needs of the community. Evaluates effectiveness of leadership, operation, and services provided to the community and conformance to operating standards and regulation. Plans and executes community special events that meet the diverse needs and interest of the military/civilian population considering the limited resources available (facilities, equipment, staff support). Evaluates the effectiveness of ongoing activities and coordinates events with supervisor, prior to scheduling special events or prior to submission of special events for five-year plans. Prepares a Community Calendar. Participates in strategic planning initiatives and measures such as Process Improvement Board. Provides a full range of personnel management responsibilities for subordinate employees. Conducts monthly Resale inventories, uses Rec Trac (point of sale system), and submits documents in EDM. Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Direct Deposit and Social Security Card is required.
  • Meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position to include Supervisor of Minor checks and physical.
  • A one year probationary period may be required.
  • Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check.
  • Duties may involve working indoors and outdoors.
  • Driver's license required to drive government vehicles to go to special events, other facilities on post, and for training purposes.
  • Work requires the use of physical exertion when preparing for and overseeing events. Must be able to lift and carry light to moderately heavy items.
  • Operation is 7 days a week. Schedule will be based on the needs of the activity. Subject to an irregular tour of duty including early mornings, evenings. Weekends and holidays are required.

Qualifications

Qualifications must be clearly verifiable in your resume. Directly related work experience that provided the applicant the ability, knowledge, skills, principles, methods, and techniques to plan, organize, coordinate, supervise and evaluate a recreational program. Demonstrated work experience must have been equivalent in difficulty and complexity to the next lower grade level. Highly Preferred Criteria: All answers to the Highly Preferred criteria must be visible in your resume to get credit. 2 years work experience using a point-of-sale system (ie RecTrac). 2 years work experience organizing and executing community special events. 2 years work experience managing a community recreation program.
