This position is located at Department of Housing and Urban Development Office of Legal Counsel. As a Government Information Specialist, you will serve as a Freedom of Information Officer for the OIG, performing all analytical and operational tasks relating to the OIG's compliance with the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) and the Privacy Act of 1974 (PA).

As a Government Information Specialist, you will:
Qualifications
You must meet the following requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement.
For the GS-13, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position is:
- Researching, analyzing, and evaluating data in response to Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests or appeals; AND
- Performing records management operations, such as organizing, managing, and disposing of records in accordance with records schedules and agency procedures; AND
- Provide training to internal stakeholders on records management, Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI), FOIA and privacy policies and procedures.
For the GS-12, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position is:
- Accurately respond to Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests and other disclosure inquiries from a range of internal and external individuals; AND
- Manage records and electronic files in accordance with established records retention rules and regulations; AND
- Applying internal procedures to provide access to agency Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) and privacy information.
Time-in-Grade:In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable:
For the GS-13, you must have been at the GS-12 level for 52 weeks.
For the GS-12, you must have been at the GS-11 level for 52 weeks.
Time After Competitive Appointment: Candidates who are current Federal employees serving on a non-temporary competitive appointment must have served at least three months in that appointment.
