You will serve as a Security Assistant in the Mission Support Division, Code 121300 of NAVAL RESEARCH LABORATORY.
Duties
You will monitor and control the operations of the central alarm system that monitors fire, utility, duress, and intrusion detection alarms generated from storage and secure areas.
You will monitor the Naval Research Laboratory (NRL) Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) security system to identify potential hazards and risks to NRL employees and assets.
You will simultaneously handle several emergency situations, prioritize and dispatch the appropriate law enforcement, medical, and fire protection personnel to incidents of emergencies, alarm condition or possible penetrations on the NRL fence line.
You will write/file official reports, annotate all Security Operations Center (SOC) activities in a computer-based desk journal, update communications logs, complete maintenance reports, and input information in electronic tracking systems.
You will perform duties in the NRL Visitor Center and determine purpose/nature of visit and assure positive ID before allowing visitor entry.

- This position is considered Key/Emergency-Essential. You will be required to provide immediate and continuing support to ensure the success of combat operations or the availability of combat-essential systems.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-1/4 grade level or NC-01 pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate most or all of the following: 1) Adhering to personnel and physical security regulations, processes and utilizing security applications; 2) Monitoring operations of the central alarm system that monitors fire, utility, duress and intrusion detection alarms generated from storage and secure areas; and 3) Dispatching appropriate personnel in emergency situations.

Education
In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:
- Successful completion of four years of education above high school; OR
