This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for DHA Certain Personnel Workforce for DoD to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
About the Position: This is a developmental Engineering Technician, GS-0802-05, 06, 07, 08, 09, 10, position with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Northwestern Division (NWD), Omaha District, Engineering Division specializing in providing CADD and BIM design support for architects and engineers,
Duties
As a Engineering Technician, you will:
Perform Computer-Aided Design and Drafting (CADD: AutoCAD, MicroStation, Civil 3D) and Building Information Modeling (BIM: Revit) support for architects and engineers.
Develop and maintain CAD and BIM design content and model templates for the assigned section.
Design segments of large projects or complete projects of limited scope from start to final product with capability of performing rudimentary calculations and seeking design knowledge assistance from architects and engineers.

- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 5% of the time.

Specialized Experience for GS-05:
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes performing basic supervised technical support work in Computer-Aided Design and Drafting software (CADD: AutoCAD,MicroStation, Civil 3D) and Building Information Modeling processes (BIM: Revit) to provide support for architects and engineers. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04).
OR
Education:Four year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree (a) with major study in an appropriate field of engineering, construction, or industrial technology; OR (b) that included at least 24 semester hours in any combination of courses such as engineering, engineering or industrial technology, construction, physics, drafting, surveying, physical science, or mathematics. At least 6 of the 24 semester hours must have been in drafting. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages.
Specialized Experience for GS-06:
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-05 grade level in the Federal service which includes independently performing standardized technical work in Computer-Aided Design and Drafting software (CADD: AutoCAD,MicroStation, Civil 3D) and Building Information Modeling processes (BIM: Revit) to provide support for architects and engineers. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).

Specialized Experience for GS-07:
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-06 grade level in the Federal service which includes extensive utilization of Computer-Aided Design and Drafting software (CADD: AutoCAD, MicroStation, Civil 3D) and Building Information Modeling processes (BIM: Revit) in the creation, modification, analysis, or optimization of Engineering project designs. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).

Specialized Experience for GS-08:
Specialized Experience:One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service which includes independently performing advanced technical work in Computer-Aided Design and Drafting software (CADD: AutoCAD,MicroStation, Civil 3D) and Building Information Modeling processes (BIM: Revit) to complete assigned segments of complex Civil Engineering project designs from conception to completion. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).

Specialized Experience for GS-09:
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS- 8 grade level in the Federal service which includes independently performing comprehensive advanced technical work in Computer-Aided Design and Drafting software (CADD:AutoCAD, MicroStation, Civil 3D) and Building Information Modeling processes (BIM: Revit) in the development and submission of original design of basic military and civil works building and infrastructure systems.This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-08).

Specialized Experience for GS-10:
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-9 grade level in the Federal service which includes applying expertise in Computer-Aided Design and Drafting software (CADD: AutoCAD, MicroStation, Civil 3D) and Building Information Modeling processes (BIM: Revit) to assist architects and engineers with drawing reviews and on-site investigations; taking measurements, making sketches, and assembling pertinent technical data. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).

Education
