Duties

As a Engineering Technician, you will: Perform Computer-Aided Design and Drafting (CADD: AutoCAD, MicroStation, Civil 3D) and Building Information Modeling (BIM: Revit) support for architects and engineers. Develop and maintain CAD and BIM design content and model templates for the assigned section. Design segments of large projects or complete projects of limited scope from start to final product with capability of performing rudimentary calculations and seeking design knowledge assistance from architects and engineers.

OR Education:Four year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree (a) with major study in an appropriate field of engineering, construction, or industrial technology; OR (b) that included at least 24 semester hours in any combination of courses such as engineering, engineering or industrial technology, construction, physics, drafting, surveying, physical science, or mathematics. At least 6 of the 24 semester hours must have been in drafting. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages. Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, at the GS 09 level, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. Specialized Experience for GS-10: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-9 grade level in the Federal service which includes applying expertise in Computer-Aided Design and Drafting software (CADD: AutoCAD, MicroStation, Civil 3D) and Building Information Modeling processes (BIM: Revit) to assist architects and engineers with drawing reviews and on-site investigations; taking measurements, making sketches, and assembling pertinent technical data.
