About the Position: Serves as the Operations Support Assistant providing administrative assistance and clerical support to terminal operations mission for the 596th Military Ocean Terminal in Southport, North Carolina.

Duties

Provide administrative assistance and clerical support to terminal operations mission. Maintain Director's calendar and schedule appointments based on knowledge of the Director's interest and commitments. Use a variety of automated systems in the office environment to restore/retrieve/manipulate data with computer programs, data base management spreadsheet, and graphics software packages. Receive calls and visitors and determines the nature of the inquiry and provides routine information and status requests. Maintain supply storage area in accordance with regulatory guidance. Perform a variety of supply duties.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 10% of the time.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.

For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. Proficiency Required:This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors. Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-06).
