Duties

Responsible for providing a diverse selection of academic, occupational, vocational training, and recreational programs for inmates confined within the institution. Responsible for providing technical support and assistance in all aspects of the education department’s operation Assists with the maintenance and control of the Education Department records and files, and assists with ensuring that all reporting requirements are met. Responsible for keying education information in the Education Data System (EDS) based on information provided by professional staff. Records and maintains budgetary data and financial records and is able to provide statistical information to supervisors and staff members. Along with all other correctional institution employees, incumbent is charged with responsibility for maintaining security of the institution. The staff correctional responsibilities precede all others required by this position and are performed on a regular and recurring basis.

Qualifications

To be considered for the position, you must meet the following qualification requirements: Education: As a general rule, education is not creditable above GL-05 for most positions covered by this standard; however, graduate education may be credited in those few instances where the graduate education is directly related to the work of the position. OR Experience: You must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and complexity to the next lower grade level in federal service. Experience at this level may include various skills and knowledge gained in educational programs through planning, conducting, or evaluating educational and training programs. Applicants at this level should be able to develop and compile various complex reports, identify and rectify anomalies, and provide summaries based upon data. Some examples of this qualifying experience are: Experience preparing spreadsheets and reports used for educational or other related purposes and assisting in the implementation, evaluation, and maintenance of educational programs. Experience conducting educational surveys, evaluating training programs, developing training materials for training courses or training programs. Making recommendations for improvements, assisting teachers and instructors. Experience providing technical support and have working knowledge of audio-visual equipment, reproduction machines, and business-related equipment. If applicable, credit will be given for paid and unpaid experience. To receive proper credit, you must show the actual time (such as the number of hours worked per week) spent in activities. **Your eligibility for consideration will be based on your responses to the questions in the application.**
