This position is located in the Office of the Deputy Director at VA Boston Healthcare System.
Duties
The primary purpose of this position is to provide line managers with objectively based information for making decisions on the administrative aspects of organizational operations and management. The incumbent performs a variety of substantive analytical, planning, evaluative and advisory work.
Some duties of this position include the following:
Develops recommendations for program officials and supervisors and strives to have viable
recommendations accepted by operating components. Recommendations include development
of new or modified work methods, procedural changes, systems variations, and acceptance of
new technology developments. Develops recommendations for improvements in administrative
operations and to promote efficiency and cost savings. Evaluates, processes, and makes
recommendations for effective organizational changes. Recommends areas and methods by
which efficiency of operation can be improved. Provides higher management with reports,
evaluated information, budgetary proposals and similar products necessary for effective
direction of administrative operations.
Work Schedule: Full time Monday - Friday 8:00am - 4:30pm

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 08/12/2024.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-12 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-11. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment.
You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below:
Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-11 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to:
Assist with the development and maintenance of a quality improvement and/or performance plan to include data collection and appraisal of effectiveness of clinical activity, as well as, analyzing and reporting findings to management.
Participate in data collection, validation, interpretation, analysis, and reporting of appointment management, performance measures, patient data capture, electronic workload capture, and health care data capture.
Maintain statistics for quality assurance reports.
Plan, organize, and implement projects to increase efficiency and effectiveness of clinical operations
Provide analysis on various aspects of health care programs which bring health professionals in contact with clients/veterans.
Support administrative staff with information and administrative assistance.
Provide clear and concise training and guidance to all staff.
Preferred experience:
The preferred applicant will have prior work experience in the Workplace Violence Prevention Program at VA Boston.

Physical Requirements: The work will involve standing, sitting, and walking. Travel to local institutions and to other facilities within the VISN may occasionally be necessary. Most activities will be performed at a computer terminal.
