This position is located at the Cheyenne River Health Center, in Eagle Butte, SD. This facility is accredited by The Joint Commission as a Critical Access Hospital. The incumbent is responsible for staff development and education for all departments throughout the facility.
Relocation Expenses Reimbursed: You may qualify for reimbursement of relocation expenses in accordance with agency policy.

Duties
Coordinates, organizes, and provides American Heart Association (AHA) Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification classes and Serves as a Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) instructor.
Assesses the educational and performance needs of the Cheyenne River Health Care Staff. Provides education in specifically identified topics that are determined to be a priority for the CRHC.
Plans and develops objectives for professional growth. Participates with Team Leaders, Supervisory staff, and the Executive Committee in planning, problem-solving techniques and ways to make improvements in education and training for all staff.
Keeps abreast of new legislation and regulations that affect standards of nursing practice and patient care. Assists in ensuring facility wide compliance with the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Service (CMS).
Participates in patient care activities to maintain clinical skills and expertise. Utilizes current clinical guidelines when providing patient care.
Qualifications

Basic Requirements: Nurse Series 0610
Education: A graduate or higher-level degree, bachelor's degree, associate degree, or diploma from an accredited professional nursing educational program is required. This education must have been accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs, Accreditation Commission for Midwifery Education, or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained.
Degree from Foreign Nursing School: Official certification from the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools is required for individuals who graduated from foreign nursing schools.
Licensure: For all grade levels and positions, applicants must have passed the National Council Licensure Examination. In addition, they must possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a professional nurse from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
In addition to the education and license requirements, applicants must meet one of the following GS-10 (or equivalent) Requirements:
Your resume must demonstrate at least one full year of professional nursing experience (equivalent to the GS-9 grade level) in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Professional experience in nursing education processes designed to enhance staff development and staff education in a health care setting. Working effectively with other health team members to develop plans and identified training needs of the facility. Excellent communication with employees to interpret legal, ethical, policy and concepts in health care by identified and conducting work related training and development programs to improve individual skills and organizational performance.
OR
Successful completion of a PhD or equivalent doctoral degree from a professional nursing educational program or related medical science field.
Time In Grade (Merit Promotion Candidates Only): Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP).
