This position is part of the Southwestern Power Administration. As a High Voltage Electrician Leader (Substation), you will lead and direct a group of high voltage electricians and laborers (no less than 3) for the continuous maintenance, operation and construction of high-voltage substations and radio stations within a designated area.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The work requires physical exertion, such as long periods of standing; walking over rough, uneven, or rocky surfaces; recurrent bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, reaching, or similar activities; and recurrent lifting of heavy items (over 75 pounds), such as test instruments, compression tools, and various winch lines. The work may require specific, but common, physical characteristics and abilities such as above-average agility and dexterity.
WORKING CONDITIONS: The work environment involves high risks with exposure to potentially dangerous situations or unusual environmental stress, such as working with high-voltage electrical equipment (.001 volts to 161,000 volts as general criteria), extreme outdoor weather conditions, and emergency situations at all hours of the day and any day, and foreign electrical systems. The employee must apply a wide range of safety and other precautions. Position may require accredited nationally recognized certification for fixed and swing boom cranes, aerial man-lifts, and/or material handling equipment. If so, training will be provided at government expense. The employee must apply a wide range of safety and other precautions. Travel to and lodging at remote locations is frequently required. Travel is by motor vehicle, aircraft, or other means of transportation.
