Duties

You will be responsible for providing a full range of professional injury screening and prevention, evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment to maximize Sailor performance and improve unit readiness. You will train, mentor and collaborate with the Human Performance Team members to include athletic trainers, strength and conditioning experts, and sports psychologists. You will provide physical therapy evaluation, diagnosis, therapeutic intervention and follow-up care to treat acutely ill, and injured service members. You will utilize evaluation techniques and Sailor-reported or physical performance-based outcomes measures to determine current functional level and documents in the health record in accordance with professional standards and licensure requirements. You will develop and implement goal-oriented treatment plans for Sailors presenting with dysfunction and impaired functional status with walking, running, Sailor tasks, individual training, activities of daily living, and sports/recreation. You will apply the use of therapeutic modalities and new integrative techniques and technologies for the purpose of evaluation and ongoing treatment. You will provide sailor education on the injury/disease process and its effect on function, joint protection, energy requirements, ergonomic needs, activity modification and progression of function or changes in impairments. You will participate in EOD FRP team to coordinate the rehabilitation or wellness activities for individual Sailors or groups of Sailors with the training calendar and leadership guidance.

  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.

Qualifications

In addition to the basic education requirements your resume must meet the following: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at the next lower grade level/pay band (GS-11) in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector as a professional Physical Therapist performing physical therapy patient evaluations, developing treatment plans, and providing education or consultation to patients or staff regarding how to improve performance, reduce future injury risk, joint protection, energy requirements, ergonomic needs, activity modification, and progression of function or changes in impairments. For all grade levels and positions, applicants must possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a Physical Therapist from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States; and must have passed the National Physical Therapy Examination administered by the Federation of State Boards of Physical Therapy(external link) (FSBPT).
