About the Position: The mission of the Corpus Christi Army Depot is to overhaul, repair, modify, retrofit, test and modernize helicopters, engines and components for all services and foreign military customers. Corpus Christi Army Depot (CCAD) is the Army's Center of Industrial and Technical Excellence for Rotary Wing Aviation Maintenance.
Duties
Member of a field team responsible for repairing aircraft structures at various work sites, both CONUS and OCONUS.
Serves as a journeyman and/or member of on-site maintenance team responsible in accomplishing a full range of tasks associated with rotary wing aircraft metal work.
Examines, modifies, repairs, and replaces sheet metal structures of rotary wing aircraft, such as frames, stringers, bulkheads, stiffeners, spars, skins, or ribs which have been damaged.
Use technical manuals and blueprints used for airframe repairs and modifications, also to determine angles, dimensions, contours, and types of attaching hardware, such as repairing, modifying and applying all pertinent process specifications.
Removes, repairs and/or modifies various types of cowling, in a variety of rotary wing aircraft.
Performs critical and complex maintenance repairs on composite, fiberglass and Kevlar components.
Conducts minor and major repairs of honeycomb panels on and off the aircraft.
Requirements
- One year trial/probationary period may be required.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
- This position is subject to a pre-employment drug screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.
- This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
- The Incumbent will be subject to immunizations such as series of anthrax, small pox, malaria vaccine immunizations including annual booster and other immunizations that my in the future be required), DNA sampling, HIV testing, Etc.
- This position has a requirement to lift up to 35 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.
- This position requires the incumbent to possess a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles. Must also obtain and maintain a valid government driver’s license.
- This position requires the Incumbent may be on-call, work irregular hours, accompany the assigned unit during technical and training field exercises, and deploy to contingency areas in support of the command's weapon systems.
- This position requires the incumbent to take part in preparedness training exercises or other training activities.
- This position is subject immunizations screenings and/or special immunizations such as series of anthrax, small pox, malaria vaccine immunizations including annual booster and other immunizations that may in the future be required.

- This position has been designated "Mission Essential". In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): WG-10: Ability to do the work of a Sheet Metal Mechanic (Aircraft) without more than normal supervision. Resumes will be reviewed for experience and/or training which provided skills and knowledge of the following ability to perform duties across multiple types of rotor wing platforms (UH-60, AH-64, CH-47). Constructing manufactured items and systems using measuring instruments. Removing and replacing defective structural and sheet metal parts. Working with various metals, such as aluminum, magnesium, honeycomb material, alloys, stainless steel and/or copper sheets. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating.
PHYSICAL EFFORT: Work assignments involve frequent standing, sitting, climbing, bending, and working in cramped and awkward positions. Lifts items weighing up to 35 pounds without assistance and over 35 pounds with assistance from another worker or weight handling equipment. May be required to work in cramped and confined spaces.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is at times performed in aircraft under conditions of heat or cold outside in inclement weather, subject to shop hazards and burns, cuts and bruises, and hazards while in flying status. Occasionally, work in high places may be required. Required to utilize protective clothing and safety equipment in the performance of assigned duties; e.g., shoes, glasses, goggles, gloves, hard-hat.
