About the Position: Serves as Technical Director (TD), Integrative Cold Regions Science and Engineering (ICE), Office of the Technical Directors, Cold Regions Research and Engineering Laboratory (CRREL), Engineer Research and Development Center (ERDC).
This position is being filled as an Interdisciplinary DB-05 (GS-15), which may be filled under any of the listed Job Family series.
Duties
Serves as the senior expert for Integrative Cold Science and Engineering.
Advises director and senior leadership on cold regions science, engineering, and arctic military operations.
Identifies new areas of opportunity and construct approaches to obtaining new work and new customer.
Performs research on engineering issues effecting the cold regions of the world.
Builds and expands research and development portfolio through building of relationships with federal and non-federal agencies.
Facilitates cross laboratory collaboration to develop proposals that enhance overall capabilities.
Is responsible for a program with national or international scope and impact.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires pre-employment financial disclosure and annually thereafter in accordance with DoD Directive 5500-7-R.
- Detection of the presence of drugs is warranted. This position is subject to a pre-employment screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Top Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a two year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.

In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the below experience:
Specialized Experience: To qualify for DB-05 (GS-15) grade level or equivalency, you must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the DB-04 (GS-12/14) level in Federal service which includes: 1) Managing a multi-sector workforce; 2) Making presentations at scientific and engineering conferences; 3) Developing proposals with government agencies; and 4) working across technical disciplines and effecting optimal use of resources to execute program requirements.

This position is covered by the Science and Technology Laboratory Personnel Management Demonstration Project at the DB-5 (equivalent to GS-15). In accordance with the Federal Register Vol. 63, No. 57, dated March 25, 1998, an employee of the Laboratory Demonstration project must have a current average performance score of 2.5 or above in order to be selected for promotion. All applicants currently employed under a Laboratory Demonstration Project must include their most recent performance appraisal score as part of their electronic resume.
