About the Position: Serves as a Victim Advocate (SHARP) for Army Brigades and works under the supervision of the Sexual Assault Response Coordinator (SARC) in the Sexual Harassment/Assault Response & Prevention (SHARP) program, who provides guidance on program policies and objectives. Providing comprehensive assistance and liaison to victims of sexual assault and sexual harassment. Provides advocacy and educational services to service members, family members, and DoD civilians.

Duties

As a Victim Advocate (SHARP)(SAR WF) you will perform the following duties which is not an all-inclusive list: Serve as a Victim Advocate (SHARP)(SAR WF) providing professional and comprehensive advocacy services to victims/survivors of sexual assault and sexual harassment. Conduct assessments with clients to evaluate needs and risks; recognizing the need for professional intervention and referring to appropriate services. Ensure victims of sexual assault receive all needed guidance and emotional support during administrative, medical, investigative, and legal procedures. Ensure that victims understand the processes involved and that data will be collected, reported, and maintained on cases. Accompany victims and provides support in securing medical treatment, safe shelter, protective orders, court hearings, educational, transportation, financial services, and follow-up assistance. Provide support before, during and after trials. Conduct interactive training workshops/seminars to victims, community agencies and the organization. Conduct professional level and administrative educational and interactive training workshops/seminars.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance throughout the duration of employment.
  • Must maintain a valid state driver's license.
  • Temporary Duty (TDY), may be required up to 25% of the time.
  • SHARP On Call.
  • SHARP Certification.
  • SHARP Appointment Orders.
  • SHARP Background checks.
  • SHARP State Criminal history Repository Check (SCHRC).
  • Must self report any incidents.
  • One year probationary period may be required if not previously completed.

Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in behavioral or social science, or related disciplines appropriate to the position, such as Social Work, Psychology. OR B. Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. OR C. Experience: Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrated that the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: Specialized Experience Statement: To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as: Work which includes providing professional advocacy services to victims or survivors of sexual assault and sexual harassment; conducting assessments with clients to evaluate needs, risks and safety; recognizing the need for crisis intervention; responding to sexual assault and sexual harassment hotline calls and being on-call; referring clients to appropriate services; developing, maintaining and enhancing community partnerships; conducting training/seminars on sexual assault/sexual harassment. Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07).
