About the Position: this position is located with the U.S. Army Field Support Brigade, S-6 Information Management, Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington
Duties
Evaluate new or changing software to determine affects to support current and planned networking and communications systems and projects.
Work with other specialists that perform work in the areas of automation support, communication support, security, knowledge management and network compliance.
Provide authoritative advice and guidance; discuss pertinent issues with functional and technical specialists, and initiate necessary changes.
Analyze hardware and software functions.
Troubleshoot hardware and software problems then develop and implement needed changes.
Oversee daily operations of automation systems, to maintain and ensure security of information on sensitive worldwide operations and projects within AOR.
Serve as System Administrator (SA), to ensure all systems are fully compliant with Army IT security standards.
Provide advice and recommendations to IT security staff with regard to the equipment contracts and equipment proposals for compliance with the security program.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position has been designated as "Emergency-Essential". Emergency-Essential designation takes precedence over any transportation agreement or military recall status.
- This is a deployable Department of the Army Civilian position. As such, incumbent must pass an Initial and annual medical examination and receive/maintain up-to-date required immunization for the overseas or deployed location.
- Incumbent must sign DD Form 2365 and maintain medical, security, passport, performance, honorable conduct and overall fitness suitable for assignment to an austere and stressful combat environment.
- Position may require Temporary Duty (TDY) of any length including 6 months in duration or longer in CONUS or OCONUS in austere locations.
- Incumbent must obtain and maintain an official passport.
- Incumbent must successfully complete on-line computer based training and residential deployment training, as applicable.
- Incumbent must successfully complete the appropriate training and obtain the required certification/recertification for this position as outlined in DOD Publication 8570.01-M, Information Assurance Workforce Improvement Program

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes Serving as an Information Assurance Manager (IAM) and/or program manager planning, programming, installing, maintaining, and training new IT systems, vulnerabilities, and threats to assigned computer systems; providing management oversight and administration of the Information Assurance and Information Management programs for assigned area of responsibility (AOR).

Such experience is typically gained in the IT field or through the performance of work where the primary concern is IT].
