About the Position: This position is with the National Guard Bureau, Joint Staff, Trial Defense Service, Arlington, VA.
About the Surrounding Area: Situated in Northern Virginia on the south bank of the Potomac River directly across from Washington D.C. Arlington is headquarters to many departments and agencies of the federal government, including the Department of Defense and is the location of many national memorials and museums.
Duties
Develop technical investigation plans, gather documentary and other evidence, and develop witness lists.
Brief on the overall approach taken, especially where an important precedent effect is anticipated or there is widespread public interest in the outcome.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- The employee may be required to work other than normal duty hours, which may include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays.
- Employee may be required to work overtime.
- Employee must adhere to the Air Force and Army Rules of Professional Conduct (AFI 51-110 and AR 27-26).
- If not previously completed will attend ARNG TDS DCP 101 and all ARNG TDS Training events each year.
- Employee must have experience in conducting criminal investigations, report writing and interviewing.
- This position may be on call.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes conduct administrative investigations; utilize interview techniques, analyze evidence/evidence collection to determine appropriate case steps; preparing factual and persuasive reports for administrative hearings; obtain relevant evidence for investigations.
This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade level in the federal service (GS-12 or equivalent).
