This is an Air Reserve Technician Enlisted position
The primary purpose of this position is to serve as an Air Reserve Technician (ART) and the sole enlisted aircrew member, to provide ground and flight training instruction for developing, upgrading, and evaluating the skills of loadmaster aircrew members; assist the pilot in the operation of the aircraft; perform loadmaster duties on assigned missions; accomplish required flight engineering duties; and perform related staff support duties.
Duties
Develop and provide technical loadmaster upgrade and proficiency training/instruction to Reserve aircrew members and Air Reserve Technician (ART) personnel. Analyze and interpret guidance regarding aircrew duties and proficiency requirements, flight safety, and other related materials.
Perform preflight inspection of the interior and exterior of the aircraft, to include engines, fuselage, and control surfaces for mechanical and structural soundness. Inspect and regulate environmental, hydraulic, fuel, electrical, pressurization and other systems as required by the applicable flight manual.
Develop and certify cargo load plans considering quantity, weight, configuration, floor capacity, compartment restrictions and proper location within the aircraft to achieve the optimum center of gravity. Determine amounts and sizes of loading vehicles/crews and any other support equipment/personnel required.
Coordinate with the pilot during in-flight emergencies, assists in analyzing malfunctions, and prepares the aircraft, cargo, and passengers for evacuation, ditching, or crash landing.
Perform post-flight inspection on aircraft systems and supervise passenger and cargo offloading.

- Position may or will require incumbent to Fly in military and/or commercial aircraft in the performance of temporary duty (TDY) assignments
- Required to meet and maintain Air Force Reserve requirements. Incumbent's regular assignments are primarily ART duties: however, the incumbent may be assigned some non-ART duties, generally not to exceed 30 percent of total responsibilities

- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance.
- May be required to travel in military and commercial aircraft to perform temporary duty assignments (TDY) away from the normal duty station.
- Must be instructor qualified, maintaining proficiency in the Principles of Instruction.
- Required to maintain proficiency in the use of firearms. As prescribed by regulation, may be required to carry and use a concealed weapon while performing aircrew related duties.
- This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position.
- The position requires good judgment, patience, tact, and a desire to instruct.
- May be required to perform duties of sky marshal.
- The incumbent may be required to work overtime to meet workload demands.

Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Air Force Reserve Center Supplemental Qualification Standards for Aircraft Loadmaster (Instructor) 2185 series.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 level (or other equivalent pay systems) in federal service which equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities (KSA's) to perform successfully the duties of the position. Specialized experience is experience which includes assisting in providing ground and flight training instruction for developing, upgrading, and evaluating the skills of loadmaster aircrew members; assisting a pilot in the operation of an aircraft; assisting in performing loadmaster duties on assigned missions and accomplishing required flight engineering duties.

EDUCATION: Threefull years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M., if related or Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree, OR LL.M in photography, radio or television production, motion picture production, or other fields related to the position. COMBINATION OF EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position if the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100 percent. To combine education and experience, determine the total qualifying experience as a percentage of the experience required for the grade level. Then determine the education as a percentage of the education required for the grade level. Finally, add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify an applicant for that grade level. NOTE: YOU MUST SUBMIT A COPY OF YOUR TRANSCRIPT AT THE TIME YOU APPLY.
In additional to meeting the basic requirements above, all applicants must meet the additional qualification requirements below:
Must have been awarded or qualify for a Career Enlisted Aviator (CEA) and possess a valid aviation service aeronautical order.
AND
Must be currently qualified as Instructor and have a minimum of 500 Total Flight Time.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
1. Knowledge of systems and equipment associated with the cargo function, including operation of doors, loading ramps, cargo winches, restraint rail systems, and assigned passenger/cargo compartment systems, such as oxygen, lighting, interphone, auxiliary power unit, crew or passenger required items, and emergency procedures, evacuation routes and use of survival equipment.
2. Knowledge of aircraft capacity and limitations, including floor load restrictions, shoring and restraint requirements, and use of load charts and graphs; procedures for handling and placement of hazardous cargo; preparing containers and pallets for airdrop; and configuring for personnel airdrops and perform preflight checks and inspections.
3. Skill to direct crews in loading according to weight and balance factors, cargo destination, emergency jettison plans, and use of rigging extraction systems for aerial delivery mission.
4. Knowledge of the methods of instruction, aircrew training program requirements, procedures, and standards of performance; and skill to apply this knowledge in planning, developing and executing unit training/evaluation programs.
5. Knowledge of a wide variety of systems and components critical to the performance of the aircraft such as propulsion, electrical, hydraulic, environmental, etc.
6. Ability to communicate orally and in writing to prepare lessons, documents and reports, present training/instruction, and brief passengers and crews.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

ADDITIONAL CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
This is a Testing Designated Position (TDP). The employee is subject to random drug testing. The incumbent is subject to pre-employment drug testing and participation in random drug testing as a condition of employment. Drug Test requirement was modified with AFI 90-508, Air Force Civilian Drug Demand Reduction Program, 28 August 2014; Certified Current 18 December 2015 which supersedes AFI 44-107, 7 April 2010. Positions covered by this SPD must be reviewed for proper "Testing Designated Position (TDP)" coding to comply with the AF Civilian Drug Demand Reduction Program (AFI 90-508). Drug testing is a condition of employment.
This is an Air Reserve Technician (ART) position. The incumbent is required to meet and maintain Air Force Reserve requirements. Work schedule will be aligned to allow incumbent to fully participate in unit training assemblies. The incumbent's regular assignments are ART duties; however, the incumbent may be assigned some non-ART duties, generally not to exceed 30 percent of total responsibilities.
Must attain and maintain mission-ready status at the appropriate crew qualification level in the unit's assigned aircraft. Periodically, as prescribed by regulations, must take and pass written and in-flight standardization/evaluation examinations to include random no-notice evaluations.
The incumbent is exposed to physiological hazards of flight plus physical and psychological demands of routine lengthy missions (up to 26 hours duration), must work in confined, hazardous noise areas, is subject to inclement weather during ground operations and dangerous environmental conditions during flight, and may operate in austere location.
