Career-Seasonal appointments are permanent positions and include the same benefits as Career appointments, but do not provide work on a year-round basis. You will be in a non-pay status for approximately one pay period, sometime in December or January, and you will be in a pay status for the remainder of the year. Duties

MAJOR DUTIES: Crew Leader - Provides daily direction and demonstrates proper historic trades work methods to at least three workers including answering questions, setting work pace, and reviewing work in progress. Maintains daily communication with Supervisor on project status and work crew. Carpentry - Advanced knowledge and skill with traditional and historic craft skills, precision carpentry and woodworking equipment to construct and repair building frames, rafters, walls, staircases, door and window frames with precise fits, and accurate dimensions. Masonry - Basic knowledge of the techniques and procedures of masonry work needed to replace missing or deteriorated mortar and loose stone work. Historic Preservation - Assists with preparation of sketches, field reports, and condition assessments using digital cameras and computer software. Painting - Basic knowledge and use of paints to match and replicate existing finishes. A selectee receiving a first appointment to the Federal Government (Civil Service) is entitled only to the lowest step of the grade for which selected. To qualify for this position, you must have sufficient knowledge and ability in the following job-related factors: Ability to do the work of a Preservationist Leader without more than normal supervision (SCREEN OUT) Knowledge of Equipment Assembly, Installations, Repair Technical Practices (Theoretical, Precise, Artistic) Use of Measuring Instruments Ability to Interpret Instructions, Specification, etc. (includes blueprint reading) Ability to Use and Maintain Tools and Equipment Knowledge of Materials If your knowledge and ability in the SCREEN OUT factor above is not sufficient, you will receive no further consideration.
