The position is located within the Administrative Management Branch (AMB), Intramural Research Program (IRP), National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA). The position provides direct scientific pharmacy support to Scientific Branches and fulfill the administrative and scientific mission of the IRP and NIDA.
Duties
Independently design and conduct clinical research.
Actively collaborate with in-house staff and clinical researchers in the design and implementation of research protocols, collection of data, and in analysis and interpretation of results.
Monitor active investigational studies to ensure policies concerning use of investigational drugs are being followed.
Serve as authoritative consultant with direct interaction and communication with patients to obtain complete drug histories.
Design, conduct and participate in studies, audits and evaluations concerning drug utilization.
Serve as pharmacy liaison with physicians, nurses, pharmacists, and other staff on units to resolve drug related problems.
Design and conduct interdisciplinary educational programs in the area of drug therapy.
Independently interface with physicians in the design of drug treatment plans.
Requirements

Qualifications
In order to qualify for a Pharmacist, GS-0660 position, you must have:
A. a doctoral degree in Pharmacy that is recognized by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained;
AND
B. an active, current license as a pharmacist in a State, District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States;
In addition, in order to qualify for a Pharmacist, GS-0660 at the GS-12 level:
You must have at least one year of professional pharmacy experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 level in the Federal Government obtained in either the private or public sector, performing the following types of tasks: providing inpatient pharmacy services and preparing the complete range of sterile products (parenteral, enteral, and parenteral nutrition, and intravenous additives); identifying and preventing drug reactions or interactions; ensuring correct labeling, handling and storage of pharmaceutical products; advising physicians of possible safety issues; compounding drugs as prescribed, including IV and chemotherapy drugs.
