About the Position: This is a Physical Security Specialist, GS-0080-12 position for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Southwestern Division Headquarters, located in Dallas, Texas.

Duties
Lead/write/implement Division HQ physical security plans, access control for employees and visitors in a Federal Facility and participate in the Building Security Working Group as the SWD representative.
Assess the Protection Programs of SWD Division and Districts. Performs staff visits to subordinate activities providing guidance on policy and ensuring the objectives of the protection/physical security programs are met
Provide risk management input. Uses current data collection and analysis tools to include Enterprise Risk Management Tool and Security Management System (Countermeasures) (SMS(CM)).
Participate as an SME in a multi-disciplined staff for an organization with a complex and integrated coordination and execution process that is strategic, national in scope, and impacts national, military, civil and other DoD agencies.
Review physical security plans prepared by the districts, giving guidance and advice to minimize loss or damage from theft, espionage, sabotage and other criminal or disruptive activities.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the incumbent obtain the following core SPeD Certification: Security Fundamentals Professional Certification (SFPC) within their first two years of employment.
- This position requires Secret Security Clearance.

This is a temporary promotion opportunity for Current Army Employees. Position may be filled as a Temporary Promotion NTE 1 year. Temporary promotions may be extended up to a maximum of five years and may be made permanent without further competition. Or Position may be filled as a Reassignment/Change to Lower Grade to positions at the same, or higher grade, on a temporary basis. Return Rights will be negotiated prior to EOD.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience:
One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Administering a security program; AND 2) Drafting local security operating procedure; AND 3) Providing staff assistance to managers on security related issues. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).
