A successful candidate in this position will serve as the Kansas City Field Office, General Engineer (Program Manager) for various NNSA mission areas and operations at the Kansas City National Security Campus (KCNSC).

Duties

As a General Engineer (Program Manager), you will: Validates and ensures KCNSC activities are consistent with the NNSA mission and planning and program guidance. Performs program management duties under the guidance of the Program Management Team Lead. Evaluates contractor production support programs and recommends opportunities for improvement. Participates and contributes to the development of the annual Corporate Performance Evaluation Plan for the M&O Contractor. Administers, conducts, and coordinates long range planning studies on behalf of the NNSA to assure that advance resource requirements are identified and consistent with future workload projections.

Qualifications

A qualified candidate's online application and resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower NNSA pay band level or GS grade level in the Federal Service, i.e. NN-03. NQ-03 or GS-12/13. Specialized experience for this position is defined as providing the following functions: 1) Interprets and communicates programmatic guidance to the contractor. 2) Participates with contractor management and others to resolve problems and conflicts. 3) Coordinates with senior NNSA staff to obtain an accurate understanding of Headquarters program guidance, policies, and priorities. 4) Point of contact for the KCFO at KCNSC to ensure that contractor operations are consistent with, and support, overall program objectives. 5) Knowledge of general industrial engineering processes, techniques, and can use those to evaluate and provide oversight to the factory including production and manufacturing processes. Education

All applicants must meet the basic requirements of the General Engineer/Physical Science occupational series. Transcripts or other proof of required education MUST be included in application package.

General Engineer Series 0801:

Degree: professional engineering. The curriculum must: (1) be in a school of engineering with at least one curriculum accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology as a professional engineering curriculum; or (2) include differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics.

OR;

Combination of education and experience: college-level education, training, and/or technical experience that furnished (1) a thorough knowledge of the physical and mathematical sciences underlying professional engineering, and (2) a good understanding, both theoretical and practical, of the engineering sciences and techniques and their applications to one of the branches of engineering. There are alternate methods to meeting the engineering educational requirement (e.g., holding current professional engineering registration, having passed the EIT examination, or having completed specified academic courses or a related degree).
