This position is located in the Department of Health & Human Services (HHS), Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), Center for Medicare,(CM), Medicare Parts C and D Oversight and Enforcement Group (MOEG) .
As a HEALTH INSURANCE SPEC, GS-0107-14, you serve as the Special Assistant providing Medicare health plan compliance, oversight, and enforcement expertise by leading projects, managing office operations, and handling key management and policy assignments for the component.
Duties
Plan and coordinate projects on activities and issues related to Medicare private health plan compliance, oversight, and enforcement policies and operations.
Manage projects to ensure timely completion of action items and achievement of milestones and deliverables to assure the components objectives and priorities have been established and met.
Recommend solutions to program management problems affecting MOEG policy and operational effectiveness.
Research background information, collect, and evaluate facts on problem areas involving the component
Serve as liaison to facilitate effective communications and requests from external and internal stakeholders

In order to qualify for the GS-13, you must meet the following: You must demonstrate in your resume at least one year (52 weeks) of qualifying specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal government, obtained in either the private or public sector, to include: (1) Interpreting health insurance laws, regulations, or policies for oversight and enforcement of MOEG programs; (2) Managing front office correspondence, administrative and budget activities essential for MOEG operations and management; (3) Providing technical and project direction to staff engaged in technical and operational policy related to oversight and enforcement of MOEG programs; AND (4) Conducting comprehensive analysis on emerging issues and presenting recommendations on MOEG policy and programs to stakeholders.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Time-in-Grade: To be eligible, current Federal employees must have served at least 52 weeks (one year) at the next lower grade level from the position/grade level(s) to which they are applying.
