About the Position: This position is with US Army AMCOM TMDE and is located at Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, Alabama. This selectee Inspects Test, Measurement and Diagnostic Equipment (TMDE), parts, supplies, and tools from customers located worldwide.

Duties

Inspect and unpacks electrical and electronic instrumentation, thermal voltage converters, platinum resistance thermometers, and a wide variety of other types of test equipment. Disassembles sensitive test equipment as necessary for proper packing. Perform a quality inspection on all equipment received for return shipment to the customer. Packs items in boxes, metal containers, cartons, pouches, and crates, and consolidates shipments on pallets as appropriate.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the selectee to pass a pre-employment physical due to lifting requirements.
  • This position requires a valid driver's license.
  • Business Travel (TDY) up to 10% of the time away from the current duty location.

These duties include; independently inspecting test, measurement and diagnostic equipment (TMDE), parts, supplies, and tools for packing and shipment of all calibration equipment. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas:Ability to InspectAbility to Interpret Instructions, Specification, etc.Ability To Use and Maintain Tools and EquipmentTechnical Practices (Theoretical, precise, artistic)Work Practices Physical Effort: The inspector performs work on hard surfaces and in areas that require standing, stooping and bending, working in tiring and uncomfortable positions. The inspector frequently lifts and carries parts, equipment, and packed containers that weigh up to 40 pounds. Working Conditions: Work is generally performed inside in areas that are well lighted, heated, and ventilated. May occasionally work outside or in areas that are drafty and poorly lighted. The work is sometimes dusty, dirty, and greasy. The employee is frequently exposed to the possibility of cuts, scrapes, bruises, and exposure to potentially hazardous materials, so familiarity with safety procedures and practices in the workplace is important.
