About the Position: Serves as a working leader of employees accomplishing the design and construction of storage containers; blocking and bracing items on vans, railcars, milvans, and truck trailers, and selecting methods and material to be used in packing a variety of ammunition items.
Duties
Lead the work of blocking, bracing, packing, motor vehicle operating, and materials handling.
Pass on to other workers instructions received from supervisor and starts work.
Ensure that needed plans, blueprints, material, and tools are available and that needed stock is obtained from supply locations.
Ensure that there is enough work to keep everyone in work crew busy.
Check work in progress and when finished; checks for compliance with supervisor's instructions on work sequence, procedures, methods, and deadlines.
Urge or advise other employees to follow supervisor's instructions and to meet deadlines; demonstrates proper work methods.
Answer workers' questions regarding procedures, policies, written instructions and other directives (e.g., technical orders).
Work along with other workers, setting the pace.
Ensure that items in the Less Than Carload/Less Than Truckload (LCL/LTL) area to be packed and shipped are stored in accordance with proper compatibility groups and net explosive limits.
Ensure that items used for shipping, storage, and supply are properly constructed and meet established deadlines; and that explosives, munitions, components, and inert items are transported to and from the LCL/LTL building safely and timely.
Requirements
- A Commercial Driver's License is required to perform the duties of this position.
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Incumbent must be cleared IAW requirements of AR 190-11. Physical Security of Arms, Ammunition, and Explosives (AAandE).
- Incumbent must meet the requirements of AMCR 350-4, Training and Certification Program for personnel working in ammunition operations.
- Incumbent will be required to successfully complete the "General Transportation of Hazardous Materials Course,"MTMC II, and keep certification current IAW DOT Regulations. Title 49, and BOE-3000.
- Incumbent is subject to drug testing IAW AR 600-85.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Your resume must demonstrate the ability to lead the work of a Wood Worker (Block and Bracer/Packer). Theses duties or tasks include; constructing and/or repairing wood boxes, crates, or pallets. Interpreting drawings, sketches, blueprints, or written instructions to complete a project. Operating hand and power tools such as hand and power saws, nail guns, hammers, banding equipment, jacks, or levers. Blocking and bracing and securing items to prevent shifting during transportation.
Failure to meet the screen out element will result in an ineligible rating.

Physical effort: Work is performed on hard surfaces and in areas that require the incumbent to stand, stoop, bend and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Frequent lifting and carrying of materials, tools, and packed containers weighing up to 40 pounds is required. During forklift operation, physical effort is required in braking and steering, manipulation of clutch, shift, lifting and tilting mechanisms.
Working Conditions: Work is generally performed indoors in well-lighted, well-ventilated areas with occasional drafts. Work is occasionally performed outside or in poorly lighted conveyances, subject to extremes of heat and cold. May wear masks, gloves, goggles, and rubber boots as appropriate.
