About the Position: Serves as a Section Chief in the Contracting Directorate, performing as both technical expert and supervisor responsible for the full range of pre-award and post-award functions and oversight responsibilities. U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Huntsville Center is located in Huntsville Alabama a high-tech city nestled between the edge of the Appalachian Mountains in North Alabama and the Tennessee River. Duties

Serve as senior contract specialist and warranted contracting officer for specialized procurements of significant importance. Responsible for the processing and oversight of contractual actions during all phases of the project/program. Conduct contract negotiations and serve as the principal contracting advisor to the project manager. Resolve issues and/or problems associated with contract administration and perform pre-award activities. Provide both technical and administrative supervision of contracting personnel.

Requirements

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• Temporary travel (TDY) up to 20% of the time may be required.
• Completion of mandatory Foundational Career Level Certification or Contracting Professional Certification must be met within 3 years.
• A Financial Disclosure OGE-450 will be required at the time of appointment and annually thereafter.
• This position is supervisory as defined by the Office of Personnel Management's (OPM) General Schedule Supervisory Guide (GSSG). A one-year probation to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties is required unless previously completed.

Basic Requirement for Supervisory Contract Specialist: I have a bachelor's degree (or higher degree) from an accredited educational institution authorized to grant baccalaureate degrees.
