About the Position: Serve as an Office Automation Assistant with Ambulatory Nursing Services located in Fort Drum, New York.

Duties

Incumbent uses the full range of functions, including advanced processes, of one or more word processing software and/or desktop publishing applications to produce a variety of documents. Incumbent provides clerical and other support to ensure efficient office operations. Performs a variety of office administration duties such as receiving and screening incoming phone calls and visitors. Use basic and advanced program functions to perform such operations as updating, editing/correcting and revising databases with sensitive, pertinent police information ensuring the accuracy of grammar, spelling and content. Implements and maintains an automated database management system to capture data and information on military personnel.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a one-year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes (1) Utilizing general office or computer automation software; (2) Storing and/or retrieving electronic documents; (3) Ensuring consist format, proper punctuation and correct grammar on prepared documents; (4) Receiving and/or distributing mail in accordance with organizational mail policies; 5) Answering phones in order to respond to general inquires. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04). OR Education: Four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Applies Technology to TasksCustomer Service (Clerical/Technical)Manages and Organizes InformationTeamwork Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-04).
