This position is part of the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA), Kansas City Federal Records Program. The mission of the Federal Records Centers Program is to safeguard the nation's records, including citizen tax returns, Official Military Personnel Folders, passport applications, and National Security Information (NSI) by maintaining facilities that are fully compliant with regulations that protect records from fire, theft, pests, water damage and natural disasters.
Duties
As an Archives Technician, you will:
Perform standard records management activities in support of agency records management needs.
Provide reference service for records in various filing systems and refile or interfile records in various filing system.
Perform various duties related to the acceptance of incoming transfers of Federal records.
Transcribe information found and prepare material for transmittal to the requesting agency or individual.
Qualifications
You must meet the following requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: For the GS-05 grade level is defined as one year of experience at the GS-04 grade level, or equivalent, that is typically in or related to the position and which equipped the candidate with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of this position. Specialized experience for this position is defined as experience:
Performing record management duties, such as locating files, reference services, pulling and refiling, holding maintenance; AND
Communicating to customer inquiries, verbally or in writing;
OR
EDUCATION: You may substitute specialized experience with education as follows: 4 years above high school
OR
COMBINATION: You may qualify by a combination of experience and education. Options for combining experience and education will be further explained in the online assessment.
Advancement to positions up to GS-5: Candidates may be advanced without time restriction to positions up to GS-05 if the position to be filled is no more than two grades above the lowest grade the employee held within the preceding 52 weeks under his or her latest non-temporary competitive appointment.
