You will serve as a SUPERVISORY SHIP PROGRESSMAN (GENERAL) in the PRODUCTION RESOURCES DEPARTMENT (900) of DEPARTMENT OF THE NAVY. This is a RE-ADVERTISEMENT of Announcement Number: ST-12488121-24-LH. Applicants that have previously applied NEED to re-apply to this announcement.

Duties

You will plan the use of subordinate worker's equipment, facilities, and materials on a week-to-week or month- to month basis. You will establish deadlines, priorities, and work sequences; and plan work assignments based on general work schedules, methods, and policies set by higher level supervisors. You will coordinate work with supporting or related work functions controlled by other supervisors. You will determine the number and types of workers needed to accomplish specific projects. You will determine how many assignments can be accomplished concurrently, which ones may be delayed; consider skills, personnel, materials, and equipment available and required to complete projects. You will participate with superiors in the initial planning of current and future work schedules, budget requests, staffing needs, estimates, and recommendations as to scheduling projected work. You will assign work to subordinate employees, provide indirect oversight of trade workers (military and/or civilian personnel). You will plan and establish leave schedules and determine training needs/provisions for the accomplishment of training of employees.

  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.

  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be expected to travel 80% or more of the time and must be able to obtain a government issued passport.
  • Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. You will be required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101.
