This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Coast Guard Leadership and Development Center, New London, CT.

Duties

You will be responsible for the development of curricula within the Leadership Development Center (LDC) using completed studies, occupational analyses, available data, surveys, job performance requirements, training objectives, and skill requirements. Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team.Typical work assignments include:- Planning and conducting evaluations of instructional programs for a specialty area using various methodologies.- Conducting evaluation studies according to prescribed policy based on measuring their effectiveness and efficiency of the programs and products produced, getting better results by increasing knowledge, improving skills, and changing attitudes and behaviors.-Developing, reviewing, and revising instructional materials courses and materials using methodologies such as individualized instruction, job performance aids, videotape/workbook packages, simulation and gaming, interactive video-disk, and computer based instruction.- Evaluating, selecting, and recommending procurement of appropriate electronic delivery systems including media and courseware from government organization, commercially developed software, and contractor developed materials.- Consulting with management and recommending revisions to improve training programs.

Qualifications

Qualifications for GS-12:  Applicants must have at least one of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 grade level.  Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work.  Examples of specialized experience include development, review of training/course materials, aids, devices, etc., and evaluation of training results.National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience): Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
