Duties

You will trace and analyze mechanical defects, electrical malfunctions and working with engineering personnel develop changes and modifications by resolving issues related to fit, function and performance. You will assemble, adjust and repair individual components both electrical and mechanical. You will measure functional characteristics of mechanical, hydraulic and electrical artillery system using gauges, micrometers, multi-meters, bore scopes, laptop computer, pull over gauges, linear measuring devices and other test sets. You will troubleshoot and repair complex interconnected systems including high pressure air, hydraulic, ballistic fire control, GPS tracking and guidance and communication components. You will repair, rebuild, modify and test the M777 towed howitzers cannon assemblies including breech ring, breech block, firing mechanisms, cannon tubes, hydraulic computerized fire control, etc.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or pass the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • Must be able to lift and carry toolds and equipment weighing up to 40 pounds.
  • This is a bargaining unit position.

I work under close supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. WG-09 This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job.
