The primary purpose of this position TRAINING INSTRUCTOR (SOLDERING), NH-1712-2, is to is to serve as a technical instructor, coordinating, scheduling, and instructing training programs within the Organization.
Duties
Conduct classroom, laboratory, or field instruction on technical aspects of soldering process and other assigned training courses.
As an instructor, maintains updates and develops training materials specific to assigned courses.
Evaluate student progress and performance.
As a training specialist be responsible for representing the needs of assigned organization(s) and collaborating with respective functional offices.
Accomplish special projects related to specialty area and makes staff surveillance visits to various training activities to assist customers and evaluate organization needs.

Qualifications
Experience requirements are described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions. NOTE: Due to the use of 120-day rosters, this period of experience may be completed within 120 days of the closing date of this announcement.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least 1 year (52 weeks) of specialized experience at the next lower broadband NH-01, equivalent to the next lower grade GS-04 or equivalent in other pay systems. Specialized experience is experience in teaching or instructing in an adult education program, secondary school, college, military installation, or industrial establishment in the appropriate field(s); supervising or administering a training program; development or review of training/course materials, aids, devices, etc., and evaluation of training results; work in the occupation or subject-matter field of the position to be filled that required training or instructing others on a regular basis.

EDUCATION: Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree. NOTE: You must submit a copy of your transcripts.

COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: Equivalent combinations of successfully completed post high school education and experience directly related to the work of the position as outlines above that meets the requirements of the positions.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
Knowledge of the principles, practices and techniques of instruction, instructional design, material development for assigned courses, tests and measurement principles, techniques, and objectives.
Knowledge of and ability to facilitate course instruction and provide hands on demonstrations for assigned training programs, to include specialized soldering skills required for soldering: Micro Miniature Solder, Multi-layer Solder, High Reliability Solder, High Voltage Solder, Idiom Solder (Ceramics), Surface Mount and Hot Air Solder processes and techniques.
Ability to establish effective working relationships; communicate clearly, concisely, and with technical accuracy, both orally and in writing; prepare and conduct formal and informal briefings, as well as work in a professional manner with peers, management, contractors, private industry, and other agencies.
Knowledge of aircraft/electronic maintenance systems associated with line replaceable units, aircraft maintenance procedures, aircraft systems theory, common test equipment, aerospace ground equipment, wiring maintenance, common tool usage, Air Force technical orders, safety, security, management and maintenance directives.
Skill in adapting analytical techniques and evaluation criteria to the measurement and improvement of program effectiveness, and in serving as a technical specialist and spokesperson to further operating agency objectives on important issues.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
