About the Position: Serves as senior Mail Clerk for HQ Military Surface Deployment and Distribution Command (SDDC)
Duties
Provides timely and accurate mail services to operating elements.
Performs the full range of mail handling procedures, including special handling procedures for correspondence, numerous distribution points, and the operation of automated electronic mail processing equipment.
Work requires regular and recurring lifting and carrying of objects of heavy weight and occasional lifting and carrying of heavier materials.
Serves as alternate general labor to provide support as needed with ceremonies and special projects.
Accomplishes day-to-day operations within regulatory framework furnished and based on individual experience, judgment and regulatory compliance.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the
duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
- This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued,
required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
- This position has a requirement to lift 50 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.
- This position may require some TDY travel approximately 10%.
- 1-year probationary or trial period may be required unless previously attained.

In order to qualify, you must meet education and/or specialized experience the requirements described below. Specialized Experience:One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Sorting and distribution goods to increase efficiency; 2) Following instructions to ensure procedures are followed documenting and tracking materials goods or services; AND 3) Performing clerical duties to ensure workspace is organized and efficient.
This definition of general experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04).

Education : Four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages.
Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-04).
