About the Position: This position is located at Fort Stewart, Georgia. The incumbent will perform education specialist functions and plan, direct, coordinate and report on the full scope of activities required to accomplish the Army Continuing Education system (ACES) program for assigned education center(s).

Duties

Oversee, and coordinate activities of the Installation Army Education Center functions and projects to ensure the goals and objectives are accomplished in accordance with established priorities, time limitations and funding conditions. Analyze program needs, identify budget requirements, and prepare or modify contract specifications. Exercise responsibility for all work performed in the Education Center, to include tuition assistance, Basic Skills, Multi-Use Learning Facility, coordination of testing, management of classrooms. Conduct educational needs and interest surveys and develops programs in accordance with results and makes recommendations for changes as needed. Prepare and conducts unit staff briefings to explain program, policies, changes, etc. Explain benefits (e.g., Veteran's Assistance, Tuition Assistance, scholarships, grants, etc.) and aids in securing proof of eligibility for benefits.

Adult education: Study of the adult as a learner, teaching-learning theories for adults, models and procedures for planning, designing, managing, and evaluating adult learning activities. 3. Educational program administration: Study of the foundation and methods in organizing for adult and continuing education programs. 4. Curriculum development or design: Study of the principles and techniques for development of curricula for adult or vocational education programs. 5. Teaching methods: Study of teaching strategies and learning styles of the adult learner. 6. Guidance and counseling: Study of the purposes and methods in counseling and guidance, the role of the counselor in various settings, approaches to counseling, and the uses of tests in the counseling situation. 7. Career planning: Study of career development, learning activities, systems, approaches, program coordination, use of educational and community resources, and vocational counseling systems. 8. Occupational information: Study of theories of occupational choice and vocational development and their application to the guidance process. Identification and utilization of various types of occupational information and resources. (Transcripts are required with your application) Experience Required: To qualify based on your work experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as promoting, organizing, and directing education services which include counseling, testing, registration and instructional activities in an education center, with services available to military, civilians and family members. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Educational and Vocational TestingEducational Service ProgramsGuidance CounselingProgram Management Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09).
