This Material Handler position is in Environmental Management services at the Manchester VA Medical Center, located at the Manchester campus. This position is a full-time at 40 per week.
Duties
The duties of this position include, but are not limited to:
Maintains the flow of the warehouse by moving, delivering, shelving, storing and inventorying materials and equipment.
Verifies correctness of shipment prior to completing receiving process.
Handles hazardous and sensitive materials according to established procedures.
Maintains accurate inventory for all materials and equipment.
Reads, writes and maintains files of various government and commercial documents to include turn in requests, discrepancy reports shipping/receiving documents, etc.
Understands how to load supply carts, vehicles or pallets to ensure safety and most efficient process.
Independently load and unload materials and equipment.
Moves and installs furniture and equipment
Position may perform housekeeping duties as a back up when organizational needs dictate.
Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m.- 3:30 p.m., weekends as needed.

Qualifications

Physical Requirements:
Required to drive a truck for several hours to reach the remote location of service.
Required to stand on hard surfaces for extended periods of time, and to bend, climb and stoop, and work in tiring and sometimes uncomfortable positions.
Lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds, with heavier items being moved with handling equipment or the assistance of other workers.
Moves supplies and materials with pallet jacks, forklifts and through physical labor.
During travel, considerable physical effort may be required to change tires and make limited emergency repairs.
Considerable dexterity, hand, foot, and eye coordination and concentration.
Working Conditions:
Position will operate motor vehicles in all types of traffic and weather conditions on public roads and are exposed to the danger of serious accidents.
Works both indoors and outdoors, including areas that may be hot, damp, cold, drafty, and / or poorly lighted.
Regularly exposed to the possibility of cuts, scrapes, bruises, abrasions, falls, and injury from falling stock or mechanized work areas.
Appropriate protective gear will be supplied and shall always be utilized to minimize such risks.
Must be able to sit for long periods of time while driving and is exposed to road hazard conditions daily.
