About the Position: Red River Army Depot (RRAD) is located in northeast Texas, 19 miles west of Texarkana and approximately 170 miles northeast of Dallas. Duties

Fabricate precision machine parts to perform tasks as required. Rebuild parts/items of equipment from raw stock of different metals. Lay out work utilizing precision measuring devices required to perform work. Ensure needed plans, blueprints, materials, and tools are available to perform the required work. Manufacture non-routine parts and items from raw stock of different metals (e.g. metal alloys, and other materials). Determine work procedures (e.g. machine, tools, and equipment) necessary to attain required finishes and tolerances to meet mission requirements. Fabricate, modify, and repair gages, jigs, fixtures, tools and dies used in the manufacture, modification and repair of parts, tools, equipment, machines and heavy machine work.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Obtain and maintain a Personnel Background Investigation (NACI).
  • May be required to travel (TDY) 10% of the time for business purposes.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain appropriate security clearance for access to Depot Production Computer System.
  • Must be able to pass pre-employment/change in job physical and maintain annual requirements thereafter.
  • Position requires moderate lifting up to 40 lbs. when moving machine attachments and work pieces. Hoist, hand trucks, lifts, and other workers are available to assist with heavier items.
  • Temporary promotion may be made or extended up to a maximum of five years and can be made permanent without further competition.
  • Temporary appointment may be extended in one year increments up to a maximum of three years but cannot be made permanent.
  • Time Limited Detail NTE may be made or extended at management discretion.

Ability to demonstrate the proper work methods for others, planning and laying out work, and reviewing blueprints, drawings, and sketches of items to be worked. Working under normal supervision of a work leader who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Working Conditions: Works inside in a machine shop environment where there is danger to the skin and eyes from flying metal chips, abrasive particles and hot metal. Worker is subject to the usual dirt and noise of machine shop activities.
