THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a PUBLIC AFFAIRS SPECIALIST-TITLE 32, Position Description Number PDD1168000 and is part of the KY COA, National Guard.

Duties

As a PUBLIC AFFAIRS SPECIALIST-TITLE 32, GS-1035-11, you will assist the Public Affairs Officer form plans and policies to enhance public understanding, support and acceptance of Public Affairs programs and/or activities statewide. Research and develop informational materials and communication campaigns through electronic and newspaper media. Prepare materials to explain and describe KY NG missions, accomplishments, policies, programs and actions taken to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. Coordinate the analysis of response data on communication campaign effectiveness with program managers. Respond to media requests for information. Prepare information kits, edit informational materials, release photographs and/or feature stories to the news media, coordinate media interviews and arrange photographic/electronic media coverage of newsworthy NG events. Maintain close working relationships with officials of various civic, media and community groups and government personnel. Provide training on PA program policies, practices and processes. Review all press releases, feature stories, background statements, special reports, etc., prior to their release to the media. Create/modify communication campaign formats to reach a target audience with a specific message. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications

MINIMUM REQUIREMENT: Experience in administrative, professional, investigative and/or technical work. Experience evaluating information and/or utilizing analytical skills to disseminate effective communication. Experience using computers and automation systems. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have at least 36 months experience involving a thorough knowledge of writing and communication principles, methods and techniques that relate to public affairs of the military. Experience developing new information materials including news releases, fact sheets, brochures, booklets, broadcast spots, etc., that increase communication with the agency's audiences. Experience making on-the-spot presentations to audiences with opposing points of view or erroneous understanding of agency positions. Experience responding timely and appropriately to requests for information concerning agency programs and services. EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Resume must have complete dates, work schedule, and/or hours worked per week for both civilian and military employment. (Example: 2 JAN 1980 to 3 MAR 1981; 0800-1630 M-F or JAN 1980 to MAR 1981; 40 hrs/wk) Use of year only and unspecified work schedule will result in disqualification.
