About the Position: Serves as Chief, ASAP (Army Substance Abuse Program) located at a garrison which supports the global war on terror with one foot in current operations by advocating for the current forces, and one foot in the future by leveraging and defining requirements to meet the needs of the future forces.

Duties

Plan, direct, supervise, and evaluate the Installation’s Army Substance Abuse Program (ASAP). Ensure appropriate substance abuse prevention education is provided to the serviced population, in coordination with tenant commanders, activity directors, subject-matter experts, legal and medical authorities, and others as needed and/or required. Provide data for budget and manpower planning to higher headquarters and manages and monitors the installation Army Substance Abuse Program budget. Assure military and civilian drug testing is performed in accordance with prescribed procedures to include chain of custody procedures and physical security measures. Perform all actions in support of personnel to include hiring, orienting, contracting, directing, supervising, monitoring, and evaluating performance.

Requirements

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance.
• Temporary duty (TDY) travel of up to 10% may be required.
• Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315. While probationary the incumbent can be terminated with limited appeal rights.
