You will serve as a Painter Supervisor I in the Preservation Shop (Code 970), Production Resources Department Manager (Code 901), Production Resources Department (Code 900) of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD.
Duties
You will serve as a first line Painter Supervisor, charged with exercising supervision over subordinate workers in accomplishing painter and/or mixed trade work.
You will deliver cost, schedule, and quality performance to customers.
You will be responsible for the quantity and quality of the work performed by subordinates, requiring the application of thorough expert knowledge of the methods, techniques, procedures, tools, materials, and practices of the painter trade.
You will provide performance evaluation and feedback to work leaders and journeymen.
You will plan the use of workers, equipment, facilities, materials, and tools provided for assigned units of work.
You will monitor the status of assigned work in relation to the overall scheduled requirements including unanticipated requirements.
Requirements

- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. You will be required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101.
Qualifications
Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.

Having technical accountability (responsibility) for the quantity and quality of work performed by subordinates, requiring the application of thorough expert knowledge of the methods, techniques, procedures, tools, materials, and practice of the painter trade.
Ability to fulfill the technical accountability required of this position and being proficient in evaluation of skills of the team members.
