Duties
Regularly performs substantial technical research and analysis of uncommon transactions (e.g., expired funds, frozen funds and mixed funding entitlements).
Determines and proves accuracy of adjustments to clear and close for related reporting (e.g., contract entitlements, financial balances, and fund status).
Computes and accurately pays contractual invoices and claims for payments while correctly recouping prior loan payments.
Maintains, balances, and reconciles documents, reports and analyses, requiring supporting schedules and analyses to explain changes from previous reports.
Researches, resolves, and takes corrective action for problems relating to prior payments for progress payments and material payments.
Researches current accounts, historical data, source documents, etc., to develop and validate detailed information not otherwise readily available.

Qualifications
This position is being filled under the Direct Hire Authority for Certain Personnel of the Department of Defense via delegated authority by the Office of the Secretary of Defense. Applicants MUST have related financial experience AND/OR a related financial degree (examples include: Finance, Accounting, Management, Actuarial Science, or related), in addition to meeting Office of Personnel Management (OPM) minimum qualification requirements. Substitution of combination of education and experience must still, in conjunction, minimally satisfy the DHA qualification requirement.
One year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the next lower grade within the federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required.
Specialized experience is defined as: maintaining accounting or financial ledgers; posting financial transactions; preparing accounting reports; reconciling accounts and working with a variety of accounting and automated financial systems.
Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
