About the Position: Incumbent serves as the Administrative Support Assistant performing technical and administrative work requiring substantial knowledge of regulations, training, requirements, procedures, and functions to process documents, prepare reports, and maintain records.

Duties

Plans, coordinates, and performs a variety of administrative processes, procedures, and services in support of the organization to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the office. Serves as the office administrator for automated systems relative to office administration. Assists in development of budget estimates based upon the requirements of the office. Reviews annual budget request for travel, training, supplies, furniture and equipment, and special projects to identify appropriate citations and ensure that funds are available, requests additional funds and justifications as required. Independently oversee day to day administrative and office operations and prepares responses to correspondence which are of administrative/financial interest, or general correspondence Performs technical and administrative work requiring knowledge of civilian personnel regulations, manpower and TDA, budget and finance, training, requirements, procedures, and functions to process documents, prepare reports, and maintain records.

Requirements

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance for the duration of employment.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) of up to less than 10% of the time.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a one-year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: One year of specialized experience which includes reviewing, interpreting and communicating administrative policies and guidelines to the staff; preparing correspondences, reports, and ensure accurate grammar/content; providing administrative, clerical, and budget support; resolving administrative operations problems; assisting in the preparation and processing of training requests, tracking completed training and schedules, and maintaining accurate training records; assisting in the preparation and analysis of operating budget utilizing financial systems; and/or preparing requests and justifications to purchase office furniture, automated systems, other equipment, and supplies. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-7).
