You will serve as a DRUG DEMAND REDUCTION SPECIALIST in the BEHAVIORAL HEALTH PROGRAMS of MARINE CORPS BASE.

Duties

You will deliver education and training on substance abuse to support the community. You will assist unit Substance Abuse Control Officers (SACO) with health education by providing information for the prevention of drug and alcohol abuse. You will assist units in conducting ongoing needs assessments and surveys to assist the Resilience Education Branch Manager in evaluation and promotion of Marine Corps culture that reduces the use of illegal drug use and the excessive use of alcohol. You will develop, plan and implement organized substance abuse awareness activities that stimulates interest in preventive health, gains support and establishes cooperative referral networks. You will research, review, and revises materials utilized for education of customers on substance abuse awareness and prevention.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
  • You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Assisting with education, awareness, and prevention of illegal drug use/abuse, assisting with the conduction of needed assessments of an organizations substance abuse program, compiling substance abuse data, and presenting substance abuse information to customers. OR Have successfully completed 2 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's degree or master's or equivalent graduate degree OR Have a combination of experience and education as described above that equates to one year of experience. My percentage of the required education plus my percentage of the required experience equal one hundred percent. Have successfully completed a behavioral or social science degree, or a degree in a related discipline appropriate to the position being filled.

OR

Have a combination of education and experience that provided knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.

OR

Have four years of appropriate experience that demonstrates knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.
